The Constant Historian is a place for discovering and experiencing the past in new ways.
Look to ‘Reflections’ for stories about the process of researching and writing history beyond the archives—how to search for historical food in a modern city, find eighteenth-century housewives in contemporary fashions, or seek out underrepresented voices in government records. ‘The Archives’ is your resource for primary sources ready to use in a classroom or just for casual perusal. All of the exceptional characters that I have met in my travels will be found here, with suggestions for further reading and sometimes more detailed lesson plans. And finally, the pages of ‘Crafting History’ contain inspiration and instructions for experiencing little bits of the past for yourself, from historical recipes to traditional crafts.
